How to Apply for a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC)

Step 2: Submit Complete Application

Step 3: Transit from REC to NMC

Step 4: Application Evaluated

Step 5: Credential Mailed

  • Step 1. Complete the “application forms 719B, 719C (if applicable), CG-719S Sea Service (if applicable), and 719P” using NMC’s Checklist Page to select the type of credential you want and apply for your TWIC.
  • Step 2. Obtain other documented Sea Service and any relevant training certificates and/or assessments, if applicable.
  • Step 3. Pay your fees and submit all your forms, photocopies, and supporting documentation in PDF format labeled with your Last Name_First Name_Mariner Reference Number (if available), including the subject line of the e-mail to: MMCApplications@uscg.mil.MMC applications for Local Limited, Restricted, and First-Class Pilot MMCs, send to a: Regional Exam Centers.
