CDR Sara Wallace Bio

 

Commander Wallace is a 2001 graduate of the Coast Guard Academy where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Marine and Environmental Science.

Her first tour was in Newport Rhode Island aboard the CGC WILLOW (WLB 202) as the Deck Watch Officer, Law Enforcement Officer, and Navigator from 2001 to 2003.

She served as the Executive Officer of CGC VASHON (WPB 1308) stationed in San Juan, Puerto Rico and following her first year shifted to the CGC KEY LARGO (WPB-1324) as the 110 ft. Patrol Boats shifted homeports.

In 2005, she transferred to COMDT (CG-09223) and was the Coast Guard Liaison to DOD for the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference (JCOC). In this tour, she travelled to each Combatant Command and educated influential civilian leaders on the people and capabilities that made up each of the branches of the Armed Forces.

In 2008, she transferred to Sector Maryland-National Capital Region (NCR) as the Enforcement Chief, planning and supporting all Law Enforcement and Ports, Waterways, and Coastal Security missions and operations. Additionally, she was the lead for all National Special Security Events, which included the 56th Presidential Inauguration. After two years, she shifted over to the Command Center Chief positon where she supported all Sector Operations through Command Center oversight and management.

She transferred to the Office of Boat Forces in 2011 where she oversaw policy and training requirements for the Boat Forces community. She worked with CG-ODO and CG-721 as Boat Forces assisted in building the Boat Assault Force competency, policy for advanced interdiction, as well as training and requirements that went into the new tactical flotation system and the Water Survival Training Program.

In 2015 she went back to Sector Maryland-NCR as the Chief of Contingency Planning Force Readiness. After one year, she shifted over to the Response Department Head positon where she worked with and oversaw seven multi-mission stations, including a station small, and one cutter.

Commander Wallace is married to Terrance Wallace and they have three children: Mackenzie, Finian, and Caden.

Her awards include a Meritorious Service Medal, a Joint Commendation Medal, and five CG Commendation Medals. She is currently assigned as the Deputy for the Office of Requirements and Analysis in the Coast Guard Capabilities Directorate.
