IMO Subcommittee on Ship Systems & Equipment (SSE)

Summary

Under the direct instruction of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) and as may be requested by the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), the Sub-Committee on Ship Systems & Equipment (SSE) considers matters related to the following subjects:

  • systems and equipment, including machinery and electrical installations, of all types of ships, vessels, craft and mobile units covered by IMO instruments;
  • testing and approval of systems and equipment;
  • life-saving equipment, appliances and arrangements; and
  • analyses of casualty and incident records relating to ship systems and equipment.

Previous Sessions

At the end of each SSE meeting, a final report is prepared for submission to the Maritime Safety and Environment Protection Committees. The final report provides a record of the issues discussed and actions taken by the Sub-Committee. The final reports of the most recent SSE meetings are provided for your reference.
