Mobile Training: Operational Training in your Country

U.S. Coast Guard Mobile Training Teams (MTT) cover multiple USCG mission areas. Mobile, or exportable, training — where the Coast Guard comes to you — is one of our most versatile and cost-effective international training tools. The U.S. Coast Guard can work with you to develop your own organic training capability. We tailor courses to fit your needs.

Resident Training: Join us for Training in the United States

The U.S. Coast Guard offers many of our own home based, or resident, courses in the United States to International Military Students (IMS). We develop these courses to meet core mission requirements and to improve operational performance. U.S. Coast Guard personnel conduct the courses at our designated training facilities.

Officer Training: Getting a Military Education in the United States

The U.S. Coast Guard has two programs inviting international students to join our primary officer training institutions: the prestigious United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) and Officer Candidate School (OCS), both in New London, a coastal city in Connecticut less than two hours' drive from Boston.

We also offer two programs to help prepare international students for leadership roles as junior officers: the International Maritime Officers Course (IMOC) at Training Center Yorktown in Virginia and Officer Indoctrination Course (OIC) at the USCGA.

Need Help: Getting Insight from Subject Matter Experts

If these existing training programs do not meet your needs, we can provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) personnel or teams to share information and lessons learned for mission areas in which the USCG has expertise but no existing mobile training program.

These SME teams generally are USCG personnel currently working in that specific mission area. They are temporarily mobilized to travel to the host nation to provide guidance, training, or best practices to your organization. These SME engagements can address most USCG mission areas, including search and rescue, information fusion, port and vessel security, fisheries, and interagency coordination.
