Field Support and Training Division (CG-MER-1)


MISSION

CG-MER-1 serves as program manager for MER C-Schools, Incident Management and Preparedness Advisors and District Response Advisory Teams, Environmental Management Advanced Education program, Industry Training, MER capabilities and requirements; and provides oversight of Oil Spill Response Equipment (OSRE) and coordinates with the National Strike Force (NSF) and the NSF Capabilities Managers (CG-7214) to ensure capability and policy alignment. MER-1 supports the personnel filling the roles of Incident Management and Preparedness Advisors and District Response Advisory Teams within each District. CG-MER-1 also serves as program manager to develop policy for oil and hazardous substance threats and/or hazards to the maritime environment that result from Weapons of Mass Destruction/Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (WMD/CBRNE) incidents, natural disasters, marine firefighting, salvage, and marine transportation emergencies. CG-MER-1 provides program guidance and facilitates processing of vessel destruction requests and ensures staffing of the ESF-10 watch during National Response Coordination Center (NRCC) activations. The Field Support and Training Division will maintain MER Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) and Performance Qualification Standards (PQS) and coordinate publication and updates, as necessary.
